Seven new leases landed this week across four counties — a strong run of East Texas timber in Cass County, a dove-heavy tract in Wilson County, an 800-acre West Texas package with its own lake in Coke County, and a Hill Country creek bottom in Kimble County that's crawling with axis. Whether you're after a two-man creek tract or a turnkey setup for the whole family, there's something here worth a hard look.
Four Fresh Tracts in Cass County — Pineywoods Timber Country
Northeast Texas hunters, this is your week. Four separate annual leases just hit the board in Cass County, and they cover the full spread of group sizes.
The premium tract south of Pruitt Lake has a little of everything: mixed timber, waterfront on Hughes Lake for fishing or waterfowl hunting, plenty of deer, wild hogs, and small game — plus easy access from Highway 155 and even a small cabin available. Leases with water, timber, and a roof don't sit long.
459.5 acres north of Cass is the big one — a spacious tract near the paper mill with mixed timber, open hay meadows, and Little Cypress Creek winding through the middle. Access comes off CR 3888 onto a private road leading into the property. Room for a full camp of hunters.
50 acres northwest of Linden is the right-sized lease that's hard to find: mixed timber with a creek running all the way through and easy access from CR 1346. The landowner calls it perfect for one or two hunters, and we agree.
37 acres southeast of Douglassville is for the hunter who likes it thick. Dense mixed timber with no roads or trails cut through it — bring an ATV — and access from CR 3217. Low pressure, heavy cover, exactly how the big ones like it.
97 Acres in Wilson County — South Texas Dove and Deer
Three miles south of Sutherland Springs, this 97-plus-acre seasonal lease is a mixed-bag hunter's kind of place. A stock tank and a wildlife pond anchor the property, and the landowner reports plenty of dove flying to the tanks — with whitetail, hogs, coyotes, and the occasional bobcat rounding out the list. With dove season in full swing and deer season coming fast, this one covers both.
800+ Acres in Coke County — Low-Density West Texas with a Private Lake
Here's the heavyweight of the week. An 800-plus-acre contiguous property north of Bronte and Wingate is filling the last two spots on a three-hunter annual lease — that works out to roughly 260 acres per hunter, about as low-density as leases get. It's fully turnkey, with established stands and feeders already in place, year-round access, and primitive camping on-site. The property features a private 60–70 acre lake with fishing and potential waterfowl, plus active hog hunting, turkey, dove, and quail. And for the deer hunters: the ranch runs a managed group quota and directly borders two trophy deer breeder operations — one on each fence line. Do with that what you will. The landowner is looking for management-minded hunters, and families with kids are preferred.
120 Acres on Copperas Creek — NW Kimble County Axis Country
This Hill Country tract is the definition of loaded. 120 acres on Copperas Creek in northwest Kimble County, thick with axis, hogs, whitetail, and turkeys, bordered by big ranches and managed by the same family since 1970. The infrastructure list reads like a wish list: two 1,000-pound stand-and-fill feeders broadcasting year-round with solar motion lights, alfalfa feeders, a large blind with AC and heat, a ground blind, three wells with water troughs, seasonal creek water holes, and a fifth wheel with AC and electricity to camp in. Draws, headers, flats, and game trails everywhere. The landowner runs a serious protein program during antler growth and expects hunters to keep it up — this is a managed place for hunters who take it seriously.
